What's On Your Workbench? September

Oh yeah. This week is National Forensic Science appreciation week. Work has planned little activities each day this week for us lab rats. Today was rock painting. I ran out of time (I actually had to work) so didn't get to painting in flying ducks on the dog rock.

Went back and forth on whether to texture coat the loon decoy. In the end I decided it would be worth investing an hour or so in doing it, so I sponge-textured it same as I do all my gunning birds.
Figured it was appropriate to have Joe looking over my shoulder as I worked. You can bet I broke out an old copy of "The Loon Book" that International Paper did way back in the 70's, featuring his loons as well as others done by carvers of that era.

Parting shot of September’s teal.
Drying after base coated in Ronan’s black.

Would have used white or gray, however has a pine bottom board and was worried about potential bleed through if sap..

Will be putting colors on it for October work bench
