Oh yeah. This week is National Forensic Science appreciation week. Work has planned little activities each day this week for us lab rats. Today was rock painting. I ran out of time (I actually had to work) so didn't get to painting in flying ducks on the dog rock.
Went back and forth on whether to texture coat the loon decoy. In the end I decided it would be worth investing an hour or so in doing it, so I sponge-textured it same as I do all my gunning birds.
Figured it was appropriate to have Joe looking over my shoulder as I worked. You can bet I broke out an old copy of "The Loon Book" that International Paper did way back in the 70's, featuring his loons as well as others done by carvers of that era.
Seemed a shame to trash the "extra" set of table saw legs from my table saw project. Plywood, paint, Tee nuts, bolts, casters, elbow grease and 70 dollars later, equals a rolling platform for a couple shop items.
