I've found that whichever hand is holding something for an extended period gets cold - ie left hand when running a tiller. The big mittens are a good way to go. A big chopper style mitten is hard to beat, especially with a handwarmer. Couple options:
- Have someone else drive the boat

I've got quite a list... First up, I'm working on fixing these (and the hens that go with em). I apparently screwed up the bottom board on about half of them, consequently had some spots that didn't get sealed properly. Not Good! So I sanded em down and fixed em up. Drakes are almost done...
I like Aquaseal - it's kept many a wader working longer. It holds good and it is stays flexible so it works well on the boots as well as the rest of the waders. I've used it on several things including boots and rubber boats. In fact I just fixed up a pair of my loaners this weekend.
Gary,
Glad to hear you are both alright! I'll never forget my first layout hunts on the PendOreille. Another cold, icy hunt!
Good to hear are doing well!

We just got back from Arkansas on Sunday. We normally hunt the Black as well, but after a couple days we knew we had to venture south. It's true, there were A LOT of ducks using Ashbaugh and the Timber rest area. I mean a lot - but good luck killing them (we killed 3 in 4 days hunting). Plus the...
You're right, I didn't make em for competition. And at the rate I'm going, I don't think I have much of a shot at getting any hens done in time. I'm out of town or working the next 4 weekends. But you never know... I've thought of trying it out one some day.
You have a species limit on...
Thanks guys!
For the length of time I've been carving I ought to have a sizeable rig by now. But in reality, this is my first actual 'rig' (more than a pair). So I'm pretty happy with how they're turning out so far. Can't wait to hunt over em next season!
Well, I've been working on these for quite a while. Just too busy to do much carving, but I finally got some paint on the drakes. A couple details left to finish (ie bills, keels) and then on to the hens.
The hens - ready for eyes and then to be sealed.
Dave's dogs are all excellent dogs! And Bailey is one of the best I've had the pleasure of hunting over for sure!
My dog is also an indoor dog and has been all over the country hunting. Last weekend, 3 days with temps 17-28 deg breaking ice and all, over 30 retrieves for the weekend in that...
I am thinking about selling my Black Brant 2. Basically it's just not the boat for me, I need something bigger. I also already have a small puddle boat for that stuff too. So I've been watching the classifieds here and elsewhere and there just don't seem to be many of these for sale, and I don't...
Ok, I guess the tent isn't going to be enough...
Sorry for the late notice, but since it is going to SNOW we have moved the seminar to an indoor location in Hugo. It will be at North Country Auto Body. Click the link for a map, it is right near the Fire Hall. If you forget and go to Kelly...
