    Advantages of a wood boat??

    You have to consider where you will hunt. Aluminum is more forgiving if anchored on/near rocks. Aluminum needs less maintenance. Having said that, Dave M's devlin cackler is a fine boat to hunt out of and is in like new condition after a number of years of use.

    I've been talking to guides for a spring hunt. They all say to get there in early March as the birds start thinning out by mid March. These spring conservation hunts are intended to help reduce the overpopulating snow geese. Just another example of an uneducated decision by the legislature.

    Carver's corner has a section on buoy bird construction. I use them for brant and they work well. Cheap too.

    That's great John. It's great to have your daughter involved. Many girls don't take to hunting. Both of my girls are avid deer hunters and it's great to share the legacy with them. Congratulations!
