    Timing of water on fields

Guys at the duck club are giving me some good hearted grief about putting water on the rice and bean fields too early! Started pumping last week in NE Arkansas and we have a few thousand specks/snows and ducks eating it up. Season opens Nov 17th. I've always liked water on 2 weeks before...

    Parker's first deer!!!

Thought you all would enjoy this, but obviously not as much as me! Parker and I went up to Kentucky for the youth gun hunt this weekend. Not expecting much, maybe a chance at a doe. He had shot his 7mm-08 a few times and I felt comfortable with a 150 yd shot or so. Long story short, we had...

    ticks and dogs (need advice)

Best bang for your buck-Preventic collar! Works very quick, if not the quickest of all. Last 2-3 months. Only does ticks, not fleas and does have some odor if your dog is in the house all the time. Can make dogs somewhat ill if chewed on. Overall a great product for ticks. Good luck, Brian

    Parker's first turkey!!

Thanks all! You guys started making me wonder about the age, but I can't find nor have ever heard of any age reguirements in alabama. I will have to thank the reddot scope on the 410, it helped a ton. Parker had a mature gobbler come into the decoy at 12 yds but he wouldn't stay around long...

    Parker's first turkey!!

Parker, my 6 year old, was able to pull the trigger on a nice jake last week! He rolled him with his 410 at about 15 yds. Most exciting hunt I've ever witnessed. He was grinning from ear to ear all day. After he shot him, he said "dad, I can't stop shaking", I told him I couldn't either...

    4-H Rodeo

Al, My mom is from Los Lunas so we would go back yearly to see the grandparents when we were young. I'm actually 1/2 Gomez, so I'm more of a "coyote" than "gringo"!! I'm a big fan of red and green, but I'd have to vote for hatch green chile hands down! It's funny, at Thanksgiving we alway...

    4-H Rodeo

Al, Reminded me of a trip out west last year. I took my youngest (then 3 yo) out to Los Lunas, NM for a funeral last year. Well we ended up at a bull riding event on a Saturday night and Brock just had to do the "mutton busting" (riding a sheep)! We were the only gringos out of the 500...

    Cork Gadwall Question

Having to put the dog down with kids in the family

Andrew, I'm sorry and it just hurts..... I would recommend that the vet puts in an iv catheter. I like to have easy vein access. Once the catheter is in there should be no pain or struggling. I like to give the dogs an iv anesthetic (ketamine/valium combo) and let the family spend a few...

    Stripping down the boat.

Thanks for the link. I found some pics of microskiffs that have some flat side consoles. I need to figure out my console height so I can still steer easy when standing. Not sure where I want the throttle controls placed exactly.....

    side console advice

Finally picked up a used boat after kicking alot of tires. Went with a 1965 dlx carolina skiff with a 90 yamaha 2-stroke. Boat is just wide open with a rough center console. Looking for advice/pics of a side console "key west" style where the steering wheel is flat and the side console tops...
