    Floatation jacket

Chris, another thanks for the heads up on that jacket. Mine arrived yesterday and fits perfectly. This is a top quality jacket, real warm, and since I hunt alone alot I appreciate the extra safety. Same again, no more excuses for not having on the pfd. - Thanks, Jim Brown ps I'm still killing...

    Good Morning with Kyle

Mike, excellent job on that hunt, definently worth the extra effort! What is the make of that boat??? Would love to see more pics of it when you get a chance. And hey, get that little girl out there as well, maybe when the weather is a little nicer. Thanks for the great post. - Jim B1

    Gravely Walk Behind Tractor

Eric, get the one with the mag wheels, it will go faster! Seriously the Gravely's are built right. I used a rear engine Gravely riding mower to cut the owners lawn when he became too ill. It was a beast. Take care of it and you'll pass it along to your grand kids. - Jim

    Fiberglass BBSB Repair

Frank, I wouldn't take it apart. That boat was made in 3 or 4 parts, not 2 like you would think and you might be stressing the structure / seams too much. Can you reach it by climbing inside? Get some cloth and EPOXY resin over it. - Jim B1

Who makes the best rowing BBSB? Looking for answers!

Do you recall who made your boat? Robert, My first sneak was made by Van Duyne Brothers in Ventnor, NJ. All fiberglass, it weighed only 135 lbs empty. the transome was only about 4" high tucked way up. I sold it to a guy in Va and I know of another on Marthas Vinyard and Frank Miller (this...

Who makes the best rowing BBSB? Looking for answers!

Robert, hands down a traditionally built BBSB will row beautifully AND: carry loads, hide, protect from the elements, and just plain look cool. What I mean about traditionally built is the origional design was meant to row and sail (the outboard hadn't been invented yet) so the transome was...

    My new rig

Nice job on the paint - like the birch-bark touch. And what Dave said, thats a great looking outboard! I run a 1956 Ev Light-twin on my sneak. Most reliable motor I've ever owned. You'll have a great time this fall in that little rig! - Jim B1

    Decoy Wish List

Good topic, since I dream of these things often. It was mentioned in one of the Ward Brothers books that they made dozens of green winged teal decoys and shipped them in barrels to someplace in South or Central America. I want to find one of those (unopened) barrels! - Jim B1

Whats the correct way to "steer" a following wave in a BBSB

Zach, Pete hit it very well as did Joe in the lines of safety. I do not hunt huge water but find myself in some big rolling stuff and since I'm running a 3 hp on my BBSB I find myself at the mercy of the SPEED of the wave. The hull design takes care of me quite naturally and its pretty cool to...

Eastern NC Duck Hunter shot---severely injured

Whew. Thats quite a testimony from all those involved. Be assured that God has and will continue to make himself known through this near tragic event. I offer my prayers for the men invloved and praise for what our Lord will do with each of them. In Christ, Jim Brown

29 Things I did while duck hunting where there were no ducks -NDR

Enjoyed that, Don, well done. I owned a '78 Chevy Luv and the only picture I have of it is with the tailgate down and nice buck taking up most of the bed. Number 23 made me laugh out loud. Hope you have more "productive" days afield. - Jim B1

Pat, I have a low head bluebill drake from 1988 all boxed up and heading out tomorrow. Thanks for the opportunity to help out. Best of success to all the hunters, be safe. - Jim Brown ps box is addressed to Mark if that matters.

    Goodbye old girl

Nick, very sorry for your loss. Suzy was a ball of energy and I still remember meeting her at one of the LP shows so many years ago. I remember thinking, "how is anyone going to control that dog?". Well, you did right by her and I know she had a wonderful life doing what she was born to do. Hope...

BBSB Resoration - Let's Try Again

You are very welcome, Frank. Let us know how you make out with the outboard search. Up here in NY that Merc 7.5 is worth maybe $400 - 450. Find a good 4 hp at a garage sale and you might pay around $350. An old Ev Lightwin 3 hp are from $200 - 350 depending on condition but they are slow. Good...

BBSB Resoration - Let's Try Again

Frank, nice job on the boat. Yep, thats the same boat I ran for about 10 years and really enjoyed the "learning" experience a boat with that kind of history can teach you. The pics jogged some memories I'll share and also how I modified some things: First, see how small that transom is - not...
