Happy New Year what's on your workbench

Chris, dekes look nice! Your gonna have a heck of a rig going by next season.

Spent the last few days playing with some calls. I have them sound tested, but still need to sand, finish and remarque them. I'm getting an early start on Turkey stuff this year as deer and duck season was pretty slow for me.

Jode as a self proclaimed callwhore:) I will admit that those are going to turn out fantastic. I am sure the finish and remarque will be excellent as one would expect from your shop.

This thread just keeps getting better and better. It has to be with an enormous amount of pride to be able to hunt and shoot ducks over your very own set of decoys.

Here's a canvas Can I just completed for my hunting partner that helped me move all my junk into our new house. I charred the head with a torch and went a little lighter with the paint on the areas I wanted the dark to show through. I am thinking of trying to antique it. Any thoughts?

Al it is fun to gun your own birds, even more fun to gun birds others have carved you traded for or purchased from them. I think on opening day of season here in Mo. I threw 50 plus carved birds, 14 species and 12 other carvers.

Thank you Wesley for the compliment. Going to cut out his brother today and work on it. Definitely not my normal canvasback but I like him in the nude.

Jode,
That pair of pintails is way beyond the norm. Congratulations on going that extra bit of distance that make them phenomenal. I love your creativity and ability to put out a finished product with so much class.

Here are a few ducks migrating to the South Eastern Wildlife Expo in Charleston S.C.

There is a small decoy section at this show. It has both antique vendors as well as contemporary carvers.

For those of you who are not familiar "Sewe" as it is known, is a very large show hosting a variety of different types of hunting experience and appreciation. There are flyfishing demos, dock dogs, kayaks to skinny water flats boats, major works of art, birds of prey demonstrations, carving, african safari guys, western big game guides, turkey and duck call vendors , etc, etc.

If you find yourself in Charleston that weekend please come by and say hello.
