Happy New Year what's on your workbench

Not my work bench but that of Lenny Maiorano from Rutherford,NJ. He is the Barnegat Bay Chapter of Delta Waterfowls' Carver of the Year

This decoy is Lenny's tributed to one of the great NJ carvers Harry V. Shourds. It is a HV Shourds Barnegat Bay style Antiqued Black Duck.

This decoy is an excellent replica of one of New Jersey's greats.

end of the season time to get ready for next year. Dave

Tom, Really like the effect of the paint on your last few birds. I may have to get some oils out and try to get somewhere near your look.
Very Nice!! John

Thank you sir, i have been keeping a detailed log over the past six months. Colors, blends, etc... with what worked and what did not. Most importantly what I need to improve on the next birds. It has helped greatly

Vince and Tom thanks.

Tom that mallard is classy looking. Very stylish and realistic at the same time.

why couldn't you use the foam itself for the heads too, if done like INVADM decoys where the bill of the decoy does not stick over the chest, and seems to be almost buried into the body.

When I do my foam rig of flatties this summer, I am at least going to try making the heads from foam too, strengthening the bills with a small dowel and then resting the bill tip on chest of the body

Mike,
Check the workingdecoys.com site for a tutorial on carving foam decoys by Don Mintz who is a contributor here also,he shows how to make a strong foam head.
Bill.
