JULY - What's on your Workbench?

Dennis-

I really like your wife's work on the paddles. The Broadbills were my favorite until she did those Canadas. They are beautiful. Very nice work.

The only thing I've completed so far this month, a wine rack for my stepdaughter's birthday.

I have a few half-baked birds in the works.

All~

Enjoying all the creativity this month....here are a couple I just finished.

Here is my first Half-size Canvasback Flyer. As with my other Flyers, it can live on the shelf - as shown - or hang from the rafters via the staple in its back.

Here's another Whimbrel. My paint keeps evolving....

Steve, how did your studio show go? Much traffic? Empty your shelves? Was thinking about you while I was on blind rehab detail.

Love that Can Steve, and of course the whimbrel too.

I'm actually going to participate this month with my contribution. This one is made from D2 steel with African blackwood / bocote scales. This was my first attempt at making my own sheath too. It's functional, but I know where to make some adjustments for the next one. This one is heading down to Maryland today. Have a couple of duck calls to get started on next.

Who is this Steve Stephy you speak of?

Either way, I don't think the gentleman in Maryland would appreciate your initials on his knife the same as you would. Wait til you see the next one I'm going to get started after I get a couple of duck calls out the door. Red Mallee Burl and African Blackwood, that says it all.

Steve

Steve that Can flyer is awesome.

Steve Steffy, I'm a knife fanatic, those are some fine looking blades. Well done sir!

Very nice work across the board per usual...

Here is a Canvasback urn decoy that holds the ashes of a close friends dog.

My father used his laser engraver to customize the keel which was made from Mahogony left over from my sneak boat build.

Really Bill? Is there a tool that your dad doesn't have? What's his per keel price to run me off a bunch with my name or something? When is he doing another pistol class? I might sign my daughter up.

Jim

Jim He's been a shop teacher for over 30 years...so no, there is nothing he doesn't have at this point!

Shoot me an email regarding pistol class, I will forward it to him.

Thanks, Bill

Bob...Thank you sir. I love using that African Blackwood to accent other cool woods. It never disappoints. I love the color scheme on that Baikal too, that is outstanding!
Thanks Tom... I appreciate it. The knives sure are a nice break from making calls. I still need to find some time to work on decoys though.
