March Whats on your workbench?

Hey Bob, what is all that white stuff? What a terrific pair of gadwall you have just completed. Just beautiful. I even noticed that touch of yellow? maybe that you added to the drakes beak along the side. Well done.

Doug~

Gorgeous Mallard! Love that nice long bill.

I guess it really does rain all the time out your way...

All the best,

Man, winter just doesn't want to quit. Snow again last night and flurries all day today.

What better way to stay warm than completing yet another in a series of "bizarre frond-decoys of the world."

These are white-faced whistling ducks:

See all the fun things you get to do as a retired fart?

Mlbob, that sir is excellent! My wife I got to handle our first palm frond decoy this past weekend at the Strongsville decoy show. We where very surprised by how light they are. How much weight do ya use to get them to ride right? and do the self right?

Gene,

Since the fronds have that "reverse chine" bottom anyway, they ride well almost automatically. I do make them all to self-right. Most times the keel will be enough to turn them, but I have added weight if I need to. I do a bunch of "all frond" decoy outings each season. Have to admit that I like them just as well as the corks, plus all my pickleweeds were made using fronds.

Bob, Wow! That latest frond is flat out cool!

I finished painting this Fulvous last week. It was one of a few birds that were in my basement at the time of the fire.

wow,
heck of a month so far. the talent on this forum always amazes me. Doug im digging your birds in oils very soft.
Bob, are you sure that it does not take an artist to see potential in fronds?
Jode, very cool to see you still have a few that survivrd.

Very cool Roy. The drake BW catches my eye.

Chris, Sorry I missed your pictures I was posting on my phone both birds are very cool.

trying to salvage multiple mistakes. not sure why i didn't just throw it out and begin again. It'll still hunt regardless! I hate making extra work that requires fillers and more sanding followed by fillers that never setup and now require filling again. First time i've had apoxie sculpt do that.

I'll carve another to redeem myself and then go for the paint.
