March - What's on your workbench ?

The bird I began this Workbench post with was the first of a pair of burnt cork Black Ducks. I just finished the Hen today. Below is a bunch of photos - different aspects and different settings. I am always experimenting with my camera - and sometimes have a hard time choosing the ones that show the birds to their best advantage. So, please bear with me - AND share your thoughts on the different approaches.

Great looking birds Capt.!

Good morning, Tom~

Thanks again for that case of irreplaceable Wiley Cork - I am endeavoring mightily to do it justice!

All the best,

SJS

My daughter's school play, "Joust", a spoof on King Arthur, is coming up next week. The Teacher asked if I could make some swords, lances and shields for the play.

Without telling me anything more, I took some artistic freedom with the shields. I think some people here will get the reference, then I had one left so decided to make one for Sir Andrew.

I have to admit, I had to look up the word "Heraldry". Did you know where the designs come from?

Your duck coat of arms probably goes back to this:

Pat,
It's already spoken for or I would send it out to you. Next one will head your way. Missed you in Strongsville, they had a great memorial for Jim and Ky.

Finally getting back into carving. Had a pretty productive day yesterday. Still got a ways to go. Critiques are always welcome. Tthanks for looking guys.

Pete - I would love one for my rig. Your goldeneye got a good workout this past season. The best thing would be that you came out this season to hunt with us. Pat

Andrew, I am very curious regarding your source of inspiration.
Monty Python, the most famous Knight movie ever, LOL.

Trying to get my daughter to add to her lines " It's only a flesh wound", but she won't.

You are very welcome! I love it when I find a score and can get it into the right hands!

Good morning, Lloyd~

One Gorgeous Can! I really like the whole carving - robust and relaxed at the same time.

Will you be hollowing it - or keeping it solid cedar?

All the best,

SJS

Pat,
I would love to one of these days. When I am retried, I am going to rent a RV and just travel from state to state hunting and carving with different guys.
