What's On Your Workbench? September

With the duckblind complete I am back to shop projects. I completed the built-in carcasses and installed them in the upstairs living area.

My shop also saw two alligators get processed over Labor Day. Thomas went alligator hunting with friends and they filled both tags. A 7 footer and a 12' that went 430 lbs. IMG_6951.jpeg

Tech-nically it was the end of August, but I got to do some carving demos with Pat Gregory at the WWA show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Got a couple ribbons on a ringneck and a brant, and my current bench has some teal on it that I have to finish up, but I'm also working on some Mason Premier grade teal "fakes".IMG_9585.JPGIMG_9586.JPGIMG_9601.JPGIMG_9616.JPG

Fried gator nuggets at Eric’s house!!!
That might just be worth the drive from Iowa.

Edit: on a side note. MY 45 year old craftsman "flex drive" table saw gave out on me, just this last Sunday. I was sitting at the doctors office this afternoon cruising Marketplace. Ended up buying a similar vintage "belt drive" Craftsman table saw for the princely sum of $65.00 Humm, Eric enjoys machine restoration, Thomas has some gator, yep sounds like a road trip to me!:cool:

Here are a few Reelfoot style duck calls I made in the last few months. Traditional round style, Oscar Quam Style and one Timber call like Turpin made.
Very nice. The barrels have almost a Tru-Tone look with the burls….

@FDR

Those are BEAUTIFUL. When my schedule slows I wish to visit your shop and see some of your work in person.

@jode hillman

I want to come to the Tuckerton show so badly but my fall is packed full with weddings and other commitments. That aside, would it be worth 28 hours on the road to see it in person?

Working on Long Tails .

I don't know that I would drive 28 hours to see it, lol but it is a pretty awesome two days that's for sure. If you could somehow book it into a 3 or 4 Day Rd. trip and maybe do a little rail bird shooting or fishing along the way it would probably be worth it.
