I believe you are talking about the cavitation plate on an outboard and its position relative to the bottom of the boat?? If so the cavitation plate usually should be somewhere from 1" below to level with the bottom of the boat I think. But I'm sure that somebody will chime in here soon...

I hunt about the same amount of evenings as mornings. I like mornings better, but the evenings are easier after work and all. Also, an evening spot doesn't neccesarily mean roost. I have seen thousands of mallards pour into corn fields just before dark, while we pick up decoys.

Just about all my goose meat gets smoked into jerky. It is the best way that I have had it. Just buy High Mountain seasoning, read the directions and then smoke it to taste. (I smoke at 170 degrees for about 1.5 hours) I have roasted them with some success, but the jerky is just awesome.
