    Damascus VS Twist Barrels

Tom, First I would shoot it only if it was stamped for nitro-proof. Next I wouldn't shoot it unless I had a VERY qualified gunsmith who is familiar with that type of gun check it out. Calipers are ok for some uses but what you really want it a dial bore micrometer for the inside I.D. in...

How do I get my decoy back?

Go to Biddeford and buy one of Steve Brettell's Buffies. Give it to her as an early Christmas Present, take the cork one out hunting. She wont complain, trust me.

My try at Derek's decoy idea.

Nice Mike, and thanks for posting the pics. I have done some Eider that are similar, but cut out the middle of the vertical board. I then put the foam in through a hole in the bottom board, allowing to fill with only one hole. Then I can take the cut out portion, weight it, and attach it...

Still have not seen any birds flying south in NH

Boys, Give a try on the Bellamy River, up beyond the first bridge. Just about opposite St Thomas High School. I have been hunting pheasant in the fields there and it seems the ducks like to fly the river and into the estuary areas leading into it. Best luck

    Anchor and rope question

I can really wind the riggers up asking them to "drop" it over there. They prefer "set" or "place" Hamilton Marine can set you up Ed. They are right in Portland. Or New England Marine & Industrial in Portsmouth. Or maybe Casco Bay, doesnt Steve's buddy Carl own that? Length wise? 7:1...

Here's another idea for flattie floaters.

Bills thought works. And if you cut the top view to shape as well it looks a little classier. And yes, slot them to fit.

NDR - Any NAVHDA members here?

Hey Nate, Yup I have done the Nahvda thing and the Akc hunt tests. The Nahvda is much more involved than the AKC. I thought the Nahvda training program was a great one, although there were some things I was lack about. Ex: my old shorthair loved to retrieve, I didnt force break him because...

    NDR-T/C Omega??? Help!!!

Phil, I would try the T/C sabots without any questions. I havent dealt with them since Smith & Wesson bought them out, But they used to have the best customer service I ever dealt with. If the new sabots dont fix your problem, call them again, they will want to know and will help.

Youth Model 20 ga. What's available?

Tough to beat the 870...BUT You might want to look into the Mossberg Bantam 500. The stock is easily adjusted for length (cant remember from what to what) And Mossberg has a pretty good rep too :).

Share your screw ups - minor and major

Laminating a mast for one of Phil Bolger's designs and used epoxy for the glue. I put the epoxy between the wood and nailed one end together, then tipped on edge so I could clamp the rest. After tightening the clanps to get a "squeeze out" of extra epoxy, I left it to set for the weekend...

If you want to collect one decoy a year, which carver would you start with???

Cant believe I forgot Bill Wasson. Bill's decoys were the reason I started carving. Nice, simple, and convey so so much.
