    drain plug on a canoe?

Hi Dwight, I used the same drain plug that is in the link listed in John's post. I have a 17' square stern, plastic canoe. I used some two part epoxy to seal the sleave and secured with a couple screws. I like the drain plug because, like you said, I can leave my decoys, blind material...

Paint Color For A Lay-Out Boat

There's a reason most layout boats are painted battleship grey. Heck, there's a reason battleships are painted battleship grey. If your gunning open water on the lake and looking to shoot divers, a low profile, grey boat will disappear behind the decoys. From what I've read about the use...

Anyone using those fancy laser sights?

I second this statement. Wing shooters should not be using sights. As previously mentioned, "sights" will do more to hinder a shotgunner than anything.

Hello All, I have a 12ft Aero Craft model F that is currently being repaired by the aluminum welder. I will be using this boat mainly in the marsh as it was designed. She has oar-locks and a transom that will need some wood repairs. The last week of the season here in Michigan, I was...

    Forgetting stuff

I am notorious for forgetting to put the plug in my boat.....I launched my 16' square stern canoe 3 times this year without the plug in and had to pull boat back onto the launch to drain 100 gallons of water :-( Other than that, the only other serious thing that I forgot this year was the...

NDR.. What to do in if your suffering from a heart attack and your alone

I think the idea of coughing has to do with arrythmias or if your pulse is extremely fast and you are feeling dizzy or like you are going to pass out. The coughing could help squeeze the heart enough to keep blood pumping to your brain utility you can get some help. If you have chest pain...

    Smallest Tender Boat

GOOD IDEA.......14ft boat is too small. Remember, the tender boat needs to be the rescue crew for your man in the layout. Imagine trying to get back to the layout quickly and safely in the 14ft boat if the 2 footers turn into 4 footers!!! The bigger the better but AT LEAST 18 ft IMHO...

    long line anchors

We use two loops of decoy line (loop formed by crimps) on each anchor and our longlines have dog leash clips on both ends. Easy to deploy and easy to store the rigging when not in use. We also use hose reels to reel in/out the main line. You will want about 3 foot droppers on your decoys to...
