    Marsh Hen Hunting Thursday

I am glad you have taken up Marsh Hens/Railbirds. It is a pleasant past time that I took up 59 yrs ago, and with the exception of a small kerfuffle called Vietnam, a couple other military assignments, Korea and Alaska, I have hunted the Virginia Barrier Islands most years. I agree with taking a...

    Breathable Waders

Love my Cabala's breathable waders, six years in both warm and cold weather .... no sweating/damp clothing ... always warm in cold weather ... also good for surf fishing. I'm sure most know this trick for warm feet, but when stationed in Alaska, when the temp. droped below 30 degrees F, we put...

    wadder help ! !

Just something to consider. When your feet sweat and your socks and the inside of your boots are wet, your feet will probably be cold. You might want to try the "poor man's vapor barrier boot." I have a pair of vapor barrier socks but normally use those thin produce bags from the grocery store...

I heartily agree with Doc, use RIG. I use a piece of sheep skin and work the RIG in. Easy way to wipe the gun down and prevent rust. R.Bell

    NDR Northern Lights

Harry, we had a great show a several years ago, right here in North Carolina. It was as good as any I saw when stationed at Ft. Wainwright, Ak. The advice to go North is probably the best. Good luck, R.Bell

Student Suspened for Drill Team Practice Rifle..NDR

Harry, last year the student body president of UNC was taken from her room, driven around town for several hours while her debit card was used. Then had her head blown off with a shotgun. I'm sorry, it is not the same community as it was once. I live here but never go downtown, too many...

Student Suspened for Drill Team Practice Rifle..NDR

Steve has brought up a very good point about rules in school and I believe his assumption is based upon how his wife's school functions. Really, all of us, reading this should have made the same assumption. If I am correct, his wife is a very fortunate teacher. The administration informs the...

Student Suspened for Drill Team Practice Rifle..NDR

I have to agree that the rules must, and I emphasize the word MUST, be followed. If rules and laws are not followed, then why have them. Certainly they fail in their purpose. Societies have rules so that we can enjoy life and schools should be one of the places young people learn this so that...

    Polarized Sunglasses

You may want to check with Hildalgo's, hildalgos@suddenlinkmail.com, 800-786-2021. Have used them for 25+ years. It is the place a lot of military and commercial pilots get their glasses. Prices are very reasonable and the service has been great. Good luck on the search, R.Bell

    Holy Snot-Sickles Batman!

A brisk 14 degrees currently here in Chapel Hill, and looking for a high of 30 today. Well below average for this area. on the bright side, this may set up some of the best hunting we've had in the area if the smaller bodies if water freeze up. everyone be safe, R.Bell

How many little trick or treaters did you guys get?

Less than 75 showed up this year. Almost as many parents, in and out of automobiles, as children. I'm afraid this is an insight into how our society functions today. Numbers down in a neighborhood with lots of children. Anyone want left over candy.

Send some positive thought/prays up for my dad please

Rob, Our church remembered your father at Morning Prayers. Have also requested the same at all Sunday services. Matt, if the iodine has to do with hyperthyroidism, it works very well and is well understood. Doesn't stop it from scaring you. Treated for it 21 years ago, served four years on...

    WOW.....bailout plan voted down....

Mark, in my community people with good credit are not being turned down for loans. I have two neighbors that manage small, local banks and they are making all sorts of loans. The local Bank America says they are doing the same thing. All say the number of customers coming in for a loan is down...
