Bruce...not shoveling snow and a place where it doesnt get hot in the summer is going to be a tuff place to find. If you do good luck getting a room! I live on the ESVA and was born and raised here. We get some snow, but the summers are hot. We hit the 90's twice this week already. Of...

I wasn't going to say anything, but I just have to....

Glad to hear it John. I had several spots of skin cancer taken off my shoulders and back on 12/23. Thought I was just going in to have them looked at until the doc pulled his numbing needle and knife out. At 33 its scared the Marlboros right out of my pocket.

1st for me - what about you?

I would say the pintail drake but finally killed one about two weeks ago after 23 years of hunting. I got a hen last year and sailed the drake never to be found. Now that a sprig is out of the way my list consists of the big divers. Cans, redheads, and scaup are birds Ive never taken. Ive...

Decoying brant with non brant decoys?

As someone else said use the goose decoys and a flag. The key is to give them something to look at, but more importantly be where they want to be. As the tide falls they feed on oyster rocks and mud flats here. Make sure you hunt a place you can get out of at low tide. Scout the edges of...

    Beautiful Blackies

Here on the coast if it werent for blacks with a little mallard in them we wouldnt have any blacks. Killing them off wouldnt be any sort of conservation tool. A couple years ago I had a great big pair of blacks mounted. Everyone thought I was nuts because we have "black" duck everywhere here...

    Tracker Grizz Quality?

Ive had Lowe and Tracker boats since I was 12 running around the bay and seaside marshes here on the shore. After a couple years all of them ended up just as much marine tex as they were metal. Nothing new when you take an aluminum boat, load it (if you add it all up probably over loaded) with...

    Geese landing in odd places

One of my neighbors on the creek has an osprey nesting pole by his dock. This year the geese beat the fish hawks to the punch. Funning seeing them nest on a platform 20ft in the air.

Parting out a big piece of waterfowling history..

His kids didnt want to run it, tried to sell it to Va Beach but they didnt have a facility large enough to house the collection so it went up for auction. I knew Mr. Maddox as a family friend for a very long time. His stories will be with me always.

    I'm so sorry ...

If your biggest grip is seeing prayer at the end of a show, you have bigger problems. I dont watch it much personally but it is refreshing to put something on and not have to worry about what word my 3 yr old will pick up and say the next day. Even broadcast TV just cant help but add in 4...

    Artifacts...

Very cool Pat. Its always neat to see the small things that made up the history of our sport. We have some old reciepts from the market gunning days from birds that were sold. Not sure if dad still has them but I'll see if I can dig them up.
